Zev is a full-time private tutor for high school and college students. He received his BA from Brandeis University with majors in Math and Economics. He holds a Masters of Teaching with specializations in Math, English and Business from the University of Melbourne.
Zev has been teaching and tutoring standardized test prep since 2008. He has classroom teaching experience for grades 7-11 and has been involved with high-end Manhattan-based tutoring agencies, where he taught students and created test prep materials.
Zev not only brings extensive experience (individually tutoring hundreds of students from start to finish of the SAT/ACT process), but also provides students with a unique wealth of test prep strategies - selecting the most effective strategies from his training with a myriad of top test prep companies and also developing new, original, powerful strategies.
As word of mouth spread and the demand grew, the brand name ZevTheTutor was established in 2013.
Zev’s areas of expertise are standardized test prep (SAT, ACT, SAT subject tests, High School entrance exams, etc.), Math, Economics and English. His students have attended highly competitive colleges (Harvard, Yale, Brown, Columbia, UPenn, Stanford).

Lessons are composed of 50-min time blocks. The standard length of test prep lessons is 2 blocks (100min).
Lesson lengths can be 1.5 blocks, 2 blocks, or 2.5 blocks (75min, 100min, or 125min, respectively).
Most students start SAT/ACT prep with lessons that are 2 blocks in length (100min).
Students typically take 1 - 2 lessons per week during the school year. During summer and vacations, students take lessons at any frequency.
-
Zev has taught hundreds of students SAT/ACT prep. He has developed his extensive arsenal of knowledge and strategies both from selecting the most effective ones from other test prep companies (that Zev trained with) and through developing a unique set of additional strategies.
ZevTheTutor students have a history of producing large score improvements as well as achieving top 1% scores on the tests. Many SAR and Leffell students have received perfect scores on one or more individual sections. Some have even received perfect scores overall.
*Typical ACT score improvement: 7.4 points. (Results may vary student-to-student. For example, one student improved her ACT score 13 points.)
ZevTheTutor can also help students determine whether SAT or ACT is the better fit through diagnostic testing, free of charge.

The invoicing process uses a credit system: At the beginning of each month, you purchase credits to restore a balance of 4 lessons (for students taking 1x per week lessons).
Any balance from excess lessons at the end of the tutoring engagement or the school year will be returned to you.
Additionally, if it is clear that the student will not be continuing lessons beyond a particular date and you wish to have an invoice adjusted accordingly, please let me know before the end of the month.
Venmo is preferred (@zevthetutor). Lessons can be purchased via cash, Zelle, check, or Venmo. All lessons are intended to be prepaid.

Students or parents fill out the lesson scheduling form to provide a student’s availability and preferences, and the scheduling administrator (Michelle) organizes the schedule for all students to best suit their availabilities and preferences.
Lesson schedules are sent out 5-6 weeks ahead of time, and you will have an opportunity to confirm the schedule or make any needed changes.
Please make sure to respond to the scheduling emails to confirm the lesson times or request changes. If two consecutive scheduling emails are not responded to, they are considered confirmed as of 72hr after they are sent and all lessons in that schedule are subject to the late cancelation policy.
