ACT Diagnostic Test Instructions

ACT Diagnostic Test Instructions

Print the following:

  • Diagnostic ACT: B02 (let me know if it looks familiar)

    • print the Reading Section and the Science Section of the ACT single-sided, but the other sections double-sided. Or just print everything single sided

  • Bubble Sheet

Test Conditions:

  • complete in one sitting, if possible

  • phone on plane mode the entire time

  • strictly timed (timing notes below)

  • Take it when you are well rested, early on in the day.

General tips:

  • Give this your best shot! Treat it like the real thing.

  • Use all of your allotted time to look back at questions that you marked along the way

  • Be somewhat willing to "guess/skip" a question that seems like it will take you more than 2.5min, so you don't run into timing issues. This is a balancing act, of course :) Don't just skip every question that seems somewhat challenging. You can come back to the ones you skip at the end of each section

  • Very few schools are interested in the essay portion, so there is no need to take it

  • A graphing calculator is allowed ONLY on the Math Section

  • If you run out of time, you should clearly mark which questions you got to and which ones you did not get to.

Timing:

  • Standard time

    • English: 45min

    • Math: 60min

    • Break: 10min

    • Reading: 35min

    • Science: 35min

  • Time and a half

    • English: 70min

    • Math: 90min

    • Break: 15min

    • Reading: 55min

    • Science: 55min

Grading your test:

  • Check your answers here

  • It's much easier to mark accurately with a friend/family member reading the answer key for you

  • Write an "X" or a "✓" next to the questions you get wrong and right, respectively

  • Let me know how many you get wrong in each section and I will score it for you

Send an email to Zev at zevthetutor@gmail.com with a photo of your bubble sheet (flat surface, well-lit, entire page with no page edges cut off) with your graded test and the tallies of how many questions are incorrect in each section.
